SOOOO....My sister Janica, John, John's parents, John's sister and of course myself went to what was suppose to be my 18 week ultrasound August 17 to check the development of the little one. It turned out that she was actually 16 weeks, not 18. The great news is she was completely on track development wise! And we found out she was GIRL!!! It was such a fun experience! I was so grateful having Janica, and John there to experience it with me, and John's parents waiting in the waiting room meant the world.
My wonderful Mom unfortunately could not go with us to the ultrasound due to her just getting out of the hospital. The great news is I am having another ultrasound on September 17 to follow up on her development and to ensure the baby reached all her 18 week development marks including all four chambers of her heart. I am very happy she will be able to experience the excitment of the ultrasound this time.
As soon as John and I found out we were expecting a girl, WE WERE BEYOND ECSTATIC and we eagerly got started with finding a name. I have always wanted to pass my Mom's name onto my daughter as a middle name and John agreed. My Mom and I are very close, she is an amazing mother and I am so excited to show my appreciation in this way. John and I got a baby name book, one name that we both liked right away was Layla. After seeing the name, I immediatly started having dreams starring this beautiful, happy little girl named Laila. The name and spelling just felt right, so I talked to John and he agreed. WE HAD A NAME!!!!
Laila Susan Kurtz Trease will be making her appearence on or around February 2nd. I cannot wait to meet this precious little gift! Mommy loves you Laila!!!

IT'S A GIRL
We found out August 17th that we are having a beautiful baby girl! We are beyond overjoyed!!! I will post more later!!!

August 17th
So August 17th is the day we will find out if it is a boy or a girl. I still have a strong feeling as to rather it's boy and girl but am no going to share just yet. Can't wait to find out!

"It's A Boy" OR "It's A Girl"
Since finding out I was pregnant there has been much speculation as to rather I am having a boy or having a girl. I think this is the case with most pregnancies. About 90% of my friends and family are certain it's a girl. I have my own suspicions of course. I find all the speculation to be very amusing and am incredibly anxious to find out.
The baby's father has a hope for the gender. I would however be very happy with either. As long as it is healthy, I will be thrilled with whichever. My very funny sister has been performing several at home "tests". The necklace over your tummy, the necklace over your palm, how I show her my hands, which way I pick up a key, going by what foods I am eating, and the Chinese date test. So far both necklace tests resulted in a girl, the hands and key were a boy, the food evaluation was a girl and the Chinese date test was a boy.
So in conclusion I am certain I am having either a boy, or a girl since we know it is not twins. LOL. Clearly these tests are just myths but I look forward to really finding out around the second week in August.
P.S. Like I said I love getting everyone's guess so if you have a guess please leave a comment and let me know what you think. In three short weeks I will let you know if you are right.

Thump thump-thump thump-thump thump
As most mother's will tell you. You never forget the day you heard your baby's heartbeat for the first time. I am certainly no exception to this rule. It was a very humbling, and touching day. It was on Tuesday June 15th, 2010. My mom, and the baby's father were also present.
Because I am considered a high risk pregnancy, my OB specialist wished to see me as soon as possible once the blood test came back positive. With normal pregnancies they usually set the first prenatal appointment for 13 weeks. My first prenatal was performed at approximately 9 and a 1/2 weeks.
When I first got back with my doctor, he informed me that very rarely is it possible to hear a baby's heartbeat before 12 weeks and that he didn't want me to be concerned and they didn't want to have to call in the psych team for me because we couldn't hear anything LOL. Needless to say the professionals did not need to be called in and my doctor was shocked because almost immediatly my mom, the father, and I heard a very rapid little thump thump, thump thump, thump thump.
We all teared up and were elated. The doctor said he was very excited about how strong the heartbeat was and that it was one of the earliest heartbeats he had ever heard. We lucked out that day twice, in addition to hearing the heartbeat for the first time we also got to see the baby for the first time. My doctor wanted to make sure everything was on track and sent me for an ultrasound.
At the ultrasound we got to see tiny baby, and hear the heartbeat for a second time, 145 beats per minute. Again I teared up as the reality hit me that the baby was in fact there and the 3 at home tests, blood test, and doctor hadn't just lied to me. I think the first picture and hearing the heartbeat proved that a miracle had taken place and my baby was on it's way.

Miracles happen!
Hi everyone! Welcome to my blog! I am so excited about this amazing journey and hope you enjoy taking this journey with me. My name is Jacalyn Alice Trease and I am 26 years old. At 12 years old I was diagnosed with my first ovarian csyst and the beginning signs of endometriosis. The csyst was the size of an orange, thankfully my parents did not allow the doctors to remove my ovary as they initially wanted. Over the years, I had several more surgeries and the doctors discovered that the only remedy that controlled my csysts and the rapidly worsening endometriosis was Luperon and Depo Provera injections. The risk with these injections can be early onset menopause. But at the time was the only option.
Since I was a little girl all I have ever wanted was to be a mother, around three years ago doctors began telling me that I would only have children with the help of a fertility specialist, than almost 8 months ago my doctor told me I would most likely never have children and that I should probably look into a full hysterectomy. Needless to say I was devestated. I chose to ignore my doctor and hope that one day the fertility specialists would help me fulfill my dream.
Awhile ago I met the baby's father and we started dating. Around the middle of May I started to experience bouts of nausea, loss of appitite, and severe fatigue. Having other health problems I ignored the symptoms and figured they would go away. Well on June 2nd I woke up in the early morning with severe cramping and it occured to me that I should probably take a pregnancy test. The entire time getting the test and taking the test I believed it would come back negative. I was wrong. I took three tests and all three rapidly came back positive. I broke down in tears. I was ECSTATIC as well as shocked.
My amazing mom and I rushed to my doctor where I took a blood test, which confirmed that I was pregnant. I am now 14 weeks and beyond elated! I am savoring and loving every second of this pregnancy and cannot wait to meet this little one around January 13, 2011! My family and friends have been amazing, I could not imagine taking this journey with out them!
